1. Overview

VehicleVerify is operated by Crystabyte Ltd (Company No. 13430853), registered in England and Wales, Birmingham, United Kingdom. We are registered with the Information Commissioner's Office (ICO) under the Data Protection Act 2018.

This Privacy Policy explains what data we collect, how we use it, and your rights. By using VehicleVerify you agree to the practices described in this Policy.

2. Data We Collect

  • Account data — name, email address, and optional phone number when you register.
  • Vehicle lookup data — registration numbers you search, used to generate reports.
  • Transaction metadata — purchase identifiers for Premium Report transactions (payment details are handled entirely by Apple/Google; we do not store card information).
  • Device and analytics data — app version, device type, crash reports, and usage analytics to improve reliability.
  • Contact form data — name, email, and message content when you contact support.

3. How We Use Data

  • Generate vehicle history reports by querying official sources (DVLA, DVSA) and trusted third-party providers (Experian).
  • Produce AI-generated summaries, risk scores, and valuations.
  • Process purchases and deliver Premium reports via email.
  • Detect fraud, abuse, and ensure service integrity.
  • Improve our product, fix bugs, and monitor performance.
  • Comply with legal obligations and app store policies.

4. Third-Party Data Processors

We share limited data with trusted third parties to operate the service:

  • DVLA / DVSA — vehicle registration numbers to retrieve official vehicle and MOT data.
  • Experian — vehicle registration numbers to retrieve finance, stolen, and write-off history for Premium reports. Data provided by Experian is subject to their own data handling practices.
  • Google (Gemini AI) — anonymised vehicle data to generate AI summaries and risk assessments.
  • Apple App Store / Google Play — in-app purchase processing.
  • Cloud hosting — encrypted data storage and processing infrastructure.

We do not sell personal data to any third party.

5. Data Retention

We retain account data and report history for as long as your account is active or as needed to provide services. Guest report data is retained for 90 days.

You can request deletion of your account and associated data at any time. We may retain certain data where required by law or to resolve disputes.

6. Your Rights

Under UK data protection law you have the right to:

  • Access the personal data we hold about you.
  • Request correction of inaccurate data.
  • Request deletion of your data.
  • Object to or restrict certain processing.
  • Data portability where applicable.
  • Lodge a complaint with the ICO if you believe your rights have been infringed.

7. Security

All data is encrypted in transit (TLS) and at rest. We follow industry best practices for securing our infrastructure and regularly review our security measures.
